Privacy Policy
What we collect, how conversations and memory are handled, and the choices you have over your data.

Who we are
Persay is the platform at persay.ai. We host AI personas of creators: simulations built from a creator's published content. When you chat on persay, you are always chatting with an AI, never with the human creator directly. Every chat surface says so.
This policy explains what data we collect when you use persay, how we use it, and the choices you have. It is written by the team that operates persay.ai. Questions about anything here can go to the contact address at the bottom of this page.
What we collect
Account email. We use passwordless magic-link sign-in, so the only credential we hold is your email address. We never store a password.
Device identifier. We set a cookie with a random device identifier so your conversation can continue across visits, and we keep a hashed form of your IP address for rate limiting and abuse prevention.
Conversation messages. The messages you send and the AI replies you receive are stored so your conversation has continuity.
Memory. Each persona can keep a small set of memory items about you (things you have told it). You can view, edit, and delete these at any time from your account.
Payment data. Payments are processed by Stripe. We store records of what you purchased and subscription status, but we never store your card number.
Usage analytics. We use PostHog to understand how the product is used (for example, which pages are visited and which features are used).
Optional phone number. If you explicitly choose to share a phone number with a specific creator, we store that share. This only happens when you take that action yourself. See the creator outreach section below.
Transcript visibility
Each creator chooses, per persona, whether they can read fan conversations with that persona. The mode is disclosed in the chat before you write anything, so you always know it before you type.
Switching is forward-only. If a creator turns visibility on after having privacy on, only messages sent after the switch can be read. Messages you wrote while privacy was on are never exposed later.
In visible mode, creators see conversations under a pseudonymous handle. They never see your name, your email address, or any contact information you have not explicitly shared.
Your memory items are never visible to creators in any mode. Conversations where crisis resources were shown, and conversations in minor mode, are also never visible to creators in any mode.
Persona coaching
Creators can attach feedback to specific exchanges to improve their persona. This works on transcripts they can see, on content flagged by our safety systems, and on their own test chats.
Before a correction becomes persona training material, it is generalized: names and personal context are stripped, so what the persona learns is a general question and answer, not your conversation.
When you delete your data, any excerpts a creator captured from your exchanges are redacted as part of the deletion.
Creator outreach
Creators can email their subscribers and send short personal notes, but only through persay. We send these on the creator's behalf. Creators never see your email address.
Every broadcast email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing is honored permanently. You can also manage notification preferences in your account settings.
Phone sharing is optional, explicit, and per persona. If you choose to share a phone number with a creator, that number is revealed to that creator only, and they may call you directly. You can revoke the share instantly from your account, which removes the number from the creator's view immediately. We never share a number you have not explicitly shared.
AI processing
Your messages are processed by AI providers (Anthropic) to generate persona replies. Conversation content is not used to train models.
Some common questions are answered from a response cache. Every cached answer is safety-screened before it can be served. Cache entries created from your conversations are deleted when you delete your data.
Safety processing
We run automated crisis and safety classification on messages. If a message indicates distress or self-harm risk, the conversation shows support resources for your region. We do not share your identity with crisis services.
Persay is for people 16 and older. Users aged 16 or 17 are placed in minor mode, which applies stricter content filters, keeps their conversations invisible to creators, and excludes them from all creator outreach.
Your rights and choices
In your account, you can view, edit, and delete the memory items a persona holds about you, unsubscribe from creator emails, and revoke any phone number you have shared.
You can request a full export of your data, and you can request deletion. Deletion removes your messages, memory items, and usage records, redacts any coaching excerpts captured from your exchanges, and removes your contact shares and any notes sent to you. Financial records are retained in de-identified form where we are required to keep them.
If you lapse and do not return for 12 months, your stored memory items are automatically purged. We send notice to your account email before this happens.
To make an export or deletion request, contact us at the address below.
Third-party processors
We use a small set of service providers to run persay. Each processes only the data needed for its role:
Stripe (payments), Anthropic (AI replies), Google (embeddings used for search over creator content), Resend (email delivery), PostHog (usage analytics), Vercel and Supabase (hosting and database), and ElevenLabs (voice features, where used).
We do not sell your data.
Data retention and security
We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Memory items follow the 12-month dormancy purge described above. Financial records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require, in de-identified form after account deletion.
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to production data is restricted to the people who operate the service, and creator-facing surfaces are built so they can never return your email, name, or unshared contact details.
Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. By using persay, you understand that your data may be processed outside the country where you live.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change meaningfully affects how your data is handled, we will tell you by email or in the product before it takes effect.
